In the non-overheating sublimation printing process, the three colors are not printed at the same time. Instead, one color is used each time and three times of printing are combined to form the required color requirements. For this reason, the printing medium needs to go through the printer three times in the printing process, which also makes the printing process of the sublimation printer slow, but the high quality of the photo printing is enough to make up for this shortcoming. Some thermo-sublimation printers have a membrane process after three finishes of coloring. That is to use the special material on the ribbon to sublimate on the three layers of color and adhere to the paper surface to form a protective film, which can play a role in preventing oxidation, discoloration, waterproof, fingerprint and so on. This is something an inkjet printer cannot do. The ribbon of the sublimation printer is disposable. The ribbon is generally sold together with the printing paper. Each roll of the ribbon has three colors of yellow, red and blue as a set. Therefore, although thermal sublimation printers can also print at low resolution, the printing cost can not be reduced, only slightly increase the printing speed, it is recommended to always print at the highest resolution.
